Maoists set BSNL control room on fire

A control-cum-equipment room of the state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) was set on fire by Maoists in Vishakapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.

The incident took place in Peddabailur village on Monday night when three extremists, including a woman, asked the lone lineman to come out following which they set ablaze the unit, damaging all the equipment, a senior police official from Vishakhapatnam said.

According to the lineman, the equipments which were torched at the control room, near the Orrisa border were approximately worth Rs. 15 lakhs, he said.
