Make women’s parliament a memorable event: Kodela

Volunteers and members of the multi-disciplinary teams urged to extend best services to delegates

Cadets, students and others going to attend a meeting of multi-disciplinary teams constituted for the women’s parliament in Vijayawada on Sunday.

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad Rao on Sunday said volunteers and members of the multi-disciplinary teams constituted for smooth conduct of the forthcoming National Women’s Parliament at Pavitra Sangamam should extend their best services to the women delegates expected to come from across the nation and also from outside the country.

Addressing a meeting attended by volunteers and multi-disciplinary team members, Dr. Sivaprasad Rao said arrangements should be made on a scale that the event gets etched in the minds of the participants as a memorable experience.

The three-day conclave is scheduled to start from February 10 in Amaravati, the new capital of the State. Dr. Rao said over 12,000 delegates were expected to participate in the event and 40-odd teams had been formed under the supervision of various government departments. He said along with women parliamentarians in the country, some of their counterparts from America, Africa, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Governor and others would participate.

Elaborate arrangements

Krishna district Collector Babu A. said elaborate arrangements were being made at the venue to ensure all comforts to the visiting guests.

He said breakfast and lunch to the delegates would be served on the main dais. WiFi availability would be ensured for media personnel covering the event and 400 buses and 300 cars would be put to use to cater to the transport needs of the guests.

Over 1,200 sanitation workers would be engaged to maintain hygiene and the delegates would be given accommodation at more than 100 different places.

A temporary 20-bed hospital would be set up at the venue with appointment of a team of expert doctors. Mr. Babu said details of the conclave had been uploaded in website www.nationalwomen sparliament.org.
