Hudhud weakens into deep depression

After causing devastation in Visakhapatnam and other north coastal districts, cyclone Hudhud on Monday weakened into a deep depression and lay centred over south Chhattisgarh.

The depression is likely to move northwards in the next 12 hours and then in northeast direction before further weakening into a depression and subsequently into a low pressure area.

According to a >bulletin released by the India Meteorology Department (IMD), rainfall is expected in many places with isolated heavy rains in Vizianagaram and Srikakualam in north Andhra and adjoining south Odisha districts during the next six hours.

Rainfall would occur at many places with isolated heavy to very heavy rains in Chhattisgarh and adjoining east Madhya Pradesh and interior Odisha in the next 24 hours. Wind speeds upto 70 kmph would prevail in the 100 km radius around the system centre which includes areas of Chhattisgarh and adjoining west Odisha.
