Houses for beneficiaries in Tirupati before Ugadi

Amenities being provided to convert Anganwadi centres into model units

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana on Monday reiterated that all the beneficiaries in the temple city would get their houses before the Ugadi festival.

Speaking to the media, on the sidelines of a review meeting with officials, Mr. Narayana said that the State government was taking special steps to ensure that all the 9,168 houses were allotted to the beneficiaries through a lottery system. Besides this, Mr. Narayana directed the officials to provide all the basic amenities to the Anganwadi centres so as to convert them into model Anganwadi centres by March 31.

The Minister also called for hastening of the development works across Tirupati.

“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has sanctioned five lakh houses for the poor and nearly 1,96,000 beneficiaries across the State would enter their new dwellings, constructed at a cost of ₹8000 crore, by June 2018.

“ In Tirupati, the houses will be handed over within the stipulated time,” he said.

₹24 crore released

for amenities

Mr. Narayana further said that they had identified nearly 14,000 beneficiaries in Tirupati and the State government had released ₹24 crore for providing basic amenities to the houses.

The Minister said that they would complete 340 houses at the Scavengers’ Colony in the next eight months.

Tirupati legislator M. Suguna, Municipal Commissioner V. Vinay Chand and other officials took part in the programme.
