The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has demanded there should be at least 15 working days in the winter session of the legislature for ensuring a meaningful debate on people's problems.
Addressing journalists here on Saturday, senior TDP leader G. Muddukrishnama Naidu suggested the government take up debates on corruption, microfinance and such other issues. Convening the Assembly and Council for a brief period would not serve any purpose as many issues could not even be taken up, he stated.
TDP legislators B. Gopalakrishna Reddy and M. Venkateswara Rao alleged that the government and microfinance institutions (MFIs) were blaming the TDP for the disruption in lending to self-help groups. They clarified that the TDP was only against the exorbitant interest rates being collected forcibly by the MFIs, and not against the MFI activity as such. Another senior party leader K. Yerran Naidu said the TDP would hold a public meeting with like-minded national parties here, if the Centre continued to adjourn Parliament without announcing a joint parliamentary committee probe into the 2G spectrum issue.

He demanded that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy issue a white paper on the number of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh, the land allotted to them, the completed ones, and employment provided so far.
