The tail-end Chittoor district received heavy downpour during the last 24 hours ending Friday morning.
The revenue officials said that except for heavy rain distributed all over the district, there was no any damage to fields. A lone incident of the Gargeya river between Kalikiri and Somala mandals receiving inflows from the nearby hillocks and flooding a couple of causeways at the rural side near Piler had put the officials on alert.
“There is no cause for concern. The situation is under control. In view of the sudden inflows, the surrounding hamlets were cautioned to observe the situation and duly alert the revenue or police officials immediately,” Somala mandal Tehsildar E. Venkataswamy said.

It was heavy downpour in Chittoor division, with non-stop rain for over three hours in Chittoor, Puthalapattu, Pakala and the western mandals on Thursday midnight.
Meanwhile, Madanapalle Sub-Collector Krithika Batra inspected some of the vulnerable villages close to the Gargeya river course in Punganur Assembly constituency, and directed the officials to be on alert.
