The APEPDCL records one among the highest recovery rate among all the power distribution companies in the country, when it comes to collection of dues.
The recovery rate is about 99 per cent from its LT and HT consumers, but the dues or outstanding from government sector stands at a whopping Rs. 343 crore.
The total dues from the minor and major panchayats in the five coastal districts of East and West Godavari, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam, alone hovers around Rs. 250 crore, as on date.

This apart, the dues from the government bodies and offices in the five coastal districts stand at Rs. 48 crore and from the government subsidised SC/ST colonies it is about Rs. 45 crore.
Even from the payee category in the agriculture sector, the collection is almost 98 per cent.
In total APEPDCL has about 1.98 agricultural consumers and in that the payee category stands at around 42,000. While demand is raised for about Rs. 1.2 crore per month, the average collection tunes up to Rs. 1.10 crore.

APEPDCL has got a consumer base of about 49.4 lakh in the LT category and 2,745 in the HT category. “The demand raised for LT category per month is about Rs. 293 crore and for HT consumers it is around Rs. 300 crore. The recovery is about 99 per cent,” said APEPDCL Director (Operations) P. Rama Mohan Rao.
This apart, APEPDCL records the lowest transmission and distribution loss in the country among all the distribution companies. While the transmission loss is about 3 per cent, distribution loss come to about 6.33 per cent. “At any point of time, it does not exceed 10 per cent, both losses combined,” said Mr. Rama Mohan Rao.
According to sources in APEPDCL, despite several reminders, the government has not responded positively to clearing its dues.
