A forensic professor of Osmania Medical College, B. Muniswamy, who was hit by an APSRTC bus while riding a two-wheeler four days ago near Nampally Public Garden, succumbed to his injuries at a corporate hospital on Saturday.
The professor performed autopsy of film actress Pratyusha following her suspicious death in 2002 which eventually became a cause celebre. The opinion reportedly expressed by Muniswamy of possible foul play behind her death triggered speculation about the case prompting the investigators to alter the sections of law to murder.
The professor was eventually suspended by the Government after the Central Bureau of Investigation, which probed the case, found fault with his autopsy report. However, he was reinstated later.

The 54-year-old professor, a resident of Narayanaguda, was returning home on his two-wheeler on Tuesday afternoon when the bus from Armoor hit the vehicle from behind. He was coming from Nampally to Assembly side then. He did not wear a helmet, the Saifabad SI, S. Mohan Reddy, said.
"He fell off the two-wheeler on his back. He suffered serious head injury and fell unconscious," the SI explained. Muniswamy, was rushed to the Osmania hospital with bleeding injuries and later shifted to Sai Krishna super speciality hospital at Kacheguda. He died while undergoing treatment around 2.45 a.m. on Saturday.
A case of rash and negligent act resulting in death was registered. The bus driver Gopal Rao was arrested. The body was handed over to his family members after conducting post-mortem.
