Drinking water, sanitation top TDP’s poll agenda

The Telugu Desam Party’s manifesto for the municipal polls has promised to make Rajahmundry a Mega City with all basic amenities in place such as minimum 6 hours of drinking water supply, sanitation, health and education, permanent under-drainage system , power generation through garbage units, solid waste management plant and so on.

Speaking at a media conference here on Tuesday, TDP State general secretary Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, spokesperson Ganni Krishna and Mayor candidate Pantam Rajani Seshasai promised to develop the peripheral areas of the city by inclusion of 24 surrounding villages into the corporation. The leaders said that they were going to organise the Godavari Pushkarams on the lines of Kumbh Mela.

The TDP council, if voted to power, would develop all roads and construct flyovers on the NH-5 for smooth flow of traffic, the said, adding that they would construct separate modernised public toilets for men and women. The TDP manifesto also promised to undertake the restoration of the Town Hall and construction of parks and playgrounds.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ganni Krishna alleged that the YSR Congresswas resorting to malpractice and using money and muscle power to win the polls.
