As one enters the narrow and dark tunnel leading to the Shiva lingam placed on a rock, one is awestruck by the folklore surrounding Sri Amaralingeswara Swamy Temple on the banks of the Krishna. The temple is steeped in history. The natural cave is one of the most popular destinations in the Palnadu region.

The pushkar ghat could emerge as a popular destination as the Krishna is flowing northwards here.

Legend has it that the temple was discovered by a group of shepherds from Pulipadu village. While they were lying under a tree, a divine voice ushered them inside the cave where they saw the Shiva lingam. Pilgrims continue to visit the temple located deep inside the tunnel. MLA of Gurazala, Yarapathaneni Srinivasa Rao, said that the entrance leading to the temple had been widened to facilitate easy movement of pilgrims.

“We will also place air conditioners inside to give comfort to pilgrims and the way leading to the temple has been widened. The entry and exit routes were also being cleared,’’ Mr. Srinivasa Rao said.

The pushkar ghat at this village, located about 20 km from Gurazala village, has all the trappings to become a major tourist destination. Mr. Rao has been taking a keen interest in developing proper approach roads while the pushkar ghat is itself well paved.
