A consultative mechanism was needed to discuss the issue of Krishna waters and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana need to sit down, discuss and communicate each other’s points of view and their needs, said Central Water Commission Chairman Ashwin B. Pandya.
Asked about the tussle between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over power generation at the Srisaialm power house, Mr. Pandya said the Krishna Water Management Board has to review the situation and accordingly act upon. He said cooperation between the two States would help the board and the people too.
Speaking on the sidelines of a workshop at the WALAMTARI (Water & Land Management, Training & Research Institute) here on Thursday, Mr. Pandya said there was an urgent need to frame rules and regulations that both States should follow. Until such time, existing general provisions involving other States will have to be followed, he said.

Asked about what action the KRMB could possibly take, he refused to be drawn. “The board will have to think about it. I will not like to jump into the shoes of the Chairman. I am no longer the Chairman,” was all he would say.
