March 16, 2015 05:19 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:13 pm IST - ELURU:

The Communist Party of India (M) politburo member Brinda Karat on Monday alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is aligning with the NDA Government by compromising on the interests of the State.

Addressing a media conference here, she sought to know why Mr. Naidu remained silent when the NDA Government had dealt a raw deal to Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget. In a bid to drive her point, she referred to a protest recently launched by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at Parliament House against the Centre’s curtailment of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) funds.

After all the BJP-led NDA Government found itself on the backfoot over its promise of according special category post bifurcation, financial assistance to bridge the resource gap and fund for building State capital after it came to power. Even as the State drew blank from the Union Budget, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu remained soft with the BJP, she criticized.

TDP, NDA diluting land rights

Ms. Brinda said that the CPI (M) would take a call on building an alternative platform at national level against the NDA regime at the party’s all-India congress scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam from April 14. The move is intended to mobilize all the like-minded parties, apolitical groups and social activists against the BJP government’s alleged anti-people’s policies.

She accused the TDP and the NDA governments of diluting the land rights of adivasis in the scheduled areas in a bid to allow corporates to exploit forest wealth and resources by destroying the culture, habitat and identity of adivasis.
