If the visiting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his team of industrialists are to be believed, the Singapore Government is most likely to build a replica of its infrastructure near Vijayawada for the purpose of the capital city.

Preparation of a detailed master plan by the officials of the Singapore government is underway and the city-state is also understood to have evinced interest in the construction of the capital city.

“I have asked the Singapore government to make a detailed master plan for the capital. I pitched it to them as an opportunity to Singapore as well as me to build such a capital city. They are also very keen on developing it. They are very fast as far as business is concerned. I am impressed with their discipline, usage of technology and fast execution,” said Mr. Naidu while addressing the Singapore Telugu Cultural Association at Little India in Singapore. The State with 972 km coastline will house 14 ports, will emerge as a logistic hub and gateway of India for exports, according to him.

Mr. Naidu said farmers have already come forward to share 30,000 acres for the purpose of building the capital city.

As per a source in the government of Singapore, such a master plan will include a liveable and endearing capital with variety of housing options. “It will promote a vibrant economy with good jobs and multiple growth opportunities. Communities will have buildings with shared spaces, wide variety of recreation and greater mobility with enhanced transport connectivity,” the source said.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Singapore government has shown interest in participating in the construction of the entire capital city along with planned clusters. “They have shown the model city that they had built in China in 30,000 acres. The same may be replicated with customised plan in public private partnership model for AP,”  said an industrialist who accompanied Mr. Naidu's delegation to Singapore.
