ACB arrests Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories on graft charge

A team of officials from the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) led by DSP I. Venkateswarlu on Wednesday arrested Karri Parameswara Rao, Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories, West Godavari district, in the city on graft charges.

According to information, he demanded Rs 20,000 from Nimmagadla Gangadharam, owner of a crushing unit at Duddukur, to bail him out from a case. The accused was reportedly caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from Mr. Gangadharam.

Parameswara Rao reportedly carried out an inspection in the crushing unit and filed a case against its management for carrying out crushing in the area allegedly in violation of guidelines of the Department of Factories. The ACB conducted raids on his residences at Kakinada and Eluru simultaneously.
