A.P. Cabinet meeting begins to discuss phone tapping

The Cabinet is expected to discuss the need for immediate implementation of Section 8 of AP Reorganisation Act, vesting Governor E.S.L Narasimhan.

Amidst continuing speculation that Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is likely to serve notices on some key Telugu Desam Party leaders in the Cash-for-Vote case, Andhra Pradesh Cabinet meeting began here on Wednesday morning to take stock of the latest developments.

The Cabinet is expected to discuss the need for immediate implementation of Section 8 of AP Reorganisation Act, vesting Governor E.S.L Narasimhan with powers on maintenance of Law and Order in Hyderabad and AP Government’s plan of action in connection with the alleged phone-tapping of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and others by Telangana Government.

SIT to probe cases

The cabinet is also expected to discuss the move of AP Government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into 87 cases connection registered against Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at several places in Andhra Pradesh in connection with the alleged phone tapping and conspiracy to defame his Andhra Pradesh counterpart, Mr.Chandrababu Naidu.

Meanwhile Telangana TDP leaders will also meet later in the day to discuss the party strategy in Telangana vis-a-vis the developments in Cash-for-Vote case. Telangana TDLP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao met TDP leader, Vem Narender Reddy, who was the TDP nominee in the recent MLC elections and who was summoned by Telangana ACB to appear for questioning on Wednesday.

The ACB also served notice on another TDP MLA, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah.

In another related development, TDP leader K. Dayakar Reddy claimed last night that the stage was set for the arrest of two IPS officers, an IAS officer and two other important functionaries in Telangana for their alleged role in phone-tapping.
