6 hurt in Jallikattu near Chittoor

Six persons were injured at the Jallikattu (bull race) event at Bangarupalem, 25 km from here, on Monday evening. About 200 bulls from Bangarupalem mandal and several bordering places in Tamilnadu, including Gudiyattam and Paradharami, turned up at the bull race held near bus stand area. The countryside stunt commenced around 2.00 pm and continued till 6.30 pm. As many as six persons were injured, while a couple of them were rushed to government hospital at Chittoor. Till the completion of the event, the police neither prevented the game, nor made their presence. The Bangarupalem police said that only a couple of villagers in a drunken state were injured, and they were not serious.
