The SSC examinations began on a peaceful note in 193 centres in Prakasam district on Thursday.

With prohibitory orders in force, 40,150 students of the total 40,840, who were issued hall tickets, wrote Telugu paper I exam. “No malpractice has been reported from any centres,” said DEO Vijayabhaskar, while supervising the exams, along with Prakasam Collector G.S.R.K.R. Vijaykumar, at the PVR Boys High school in the city.

Flying squads also made surprise inspections at more than 50 centres, while sitting squads monitored the examinations in 13 centres those had been identified as sensitive, said State Observer K. Geetha, who went round nine centres in and around Ongole. The RTC operated buses on routes with lesser frequency for benefit of students. Tension gripped when some students caught in traffic jam on the Kurnool road before the commencement of the examination. Traffic police restored traffic, much to the relief of students and their parents. At some of the examination centres, students were seen rushing in the last minute.
