As many as 26 offences, including house break-ins and two-wheeler thefts, were detected by the city police. The police on Saturday said they had arrested 12 accused and taken two juveniles into custody.
About ₹32 lakh worth property, including 656.9 grams gold, 1,078 gram silver, ₹3.70 lakh cash, 10 two-wheelers, other articles worth ₹ 2 lakh, was recovered from the arrested.
Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha told reporters that the 26 cases were reported in the last four to six months.

Among the 14 offenders, one accused hails from Kharaghpur of West Bengal, while the rest are from Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts, Mr. Laddha said.
Mr. Laddha said in the dacoity case, which was reported on October 23 near DRM office, where miscreants made good with ₹41 lakh cash and 1,200 gram gold articles from two persons, police teams had gone to Kharaghpur, where accused Geddam Suraj Kumar was caught.
Upon his arrest, ₹2.75 lakh cash and gold ornaments weighing 59.78 grams were able to recover, he said.

However, four more accused in the case are yet to be arrested.
Meanwhile, another 11 HB cases occurred at MVP Colony, Pendurthy, Kancharapalem, six two-wheeler thefts, seven ordinary thefts, one chain snatching, were others detected.
‘Man-to-Man marking’
Mr. Laddha said since the last couple of months, the crime rate had gradually come down in the city with continuous monitoring. He said that with ‘Man-to-Man marking’ strategy, where some policemen are continuously monitoring activities of ex-offenders, they are able to bring down the offences.
“Moreover we have been picking up suspected strangers for questioning at nights to prevent crimes. The fingerprint detection system is also helping in detecting crimes,” Mr. Laddha said.
