Facing the prospect of being blacklisted after the Defence Ministry scrapped its deal for supply of 12 VVIP helicopters to the IAF, AgustaWestland on Wednesday denied any wrongdoing and said it would “robustly defend” its reputation.
In a statement in the evening, the firm, part of the Italian defence group Finmeccanica, said it was yet to receive any communication from the Defence Ministry.
“AgustaWestland has not received any communication from India’s Ministry of Defence in line with the reports today [Wednesday]. The company is, therefore, unable to comment beyond reiterating the denial of allegations of wrongdoing and the continued intention to robustly defend its reputation,” the statement said.
