Who is Gurdip Singh, the Indian national on death row in Indonesia

He was found guilty by an Indonesian court of trying to smuggle in 300g of heroin and was handed a death penalty in 2005.

>> His appeal against the death penalty was turned down by the High Court of Banten in May 2005.

>> He then appealed to the Supreme Court which also upheld his death penalty.

>> He is presently detained at Nusakambangan Pasir Putih, Cilacap.

>> Singh was among 14 people including Indonesians, Nigerians, Zimbabweans and Pakistanis who were facing execution after Indonesian authorities decided to resume implementing death penalty, a decision has been criticised by human rights organisations.

>> On July 29, 2016, four of the 10 including an Indonesian were executed. No reasons were given about the delay in executing the rest.
