The Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday announced that it has revoked the passport of Vijay Mallya, the wanted boss of Kingfisher Airlines, starting the process of bringing him back to India.
“Having considered the replies filed by Shri Vijay Mallya to the show cause notice, facts brought by Enforcement Directorate, and Non Bailable Warrant under the PMLA Act, 2002 issued by Special Judge Mumbai, the MEA revoked the passport of Shri Vijay Mallya under Section 10(3)(c) and 10(3)(h) of the Passports Act, 1967,” MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

The revocation of the Indian passport of Mr. Mallya comes a day after the MEA declared that it had begun the procedure of consultation to bring him to justice. “The government is committed to bring him back to face justice. We are currently in the process of consulting various agencies,” Mr. Swarup had informed during the weekly briefing of MEA on Friday.
The Enforcement Directorate had begun coordinating with the MEA to bring Mr. Mallya back especially in view of his reluctance to disclose overseas assets to the authorities. Mr. Mallya who flew away to London in the first week of March amidst a major financial battle with his creditors told the court on Thursday that the
