Rajesh Talwar, the father of Aarushi Talwar, suffered grievous injuries following an attack by one Utsav Sharma on the Special CBI court premises in Ghaziabad on Tuesday.

A native of Varanasi, Utsav Sharma, had earlier attacked S.P.S. Rathore, the former DGP of Haryana and the main accused in a teenager's molestation and suicide case outside a Chandigarh court on February 8, 2010. He was arrested but was released on bail on February 16.

Dr. Talwar was going to the CBI court in connection with the hearing on the CBI closure report in the Aarushi Talwar-Hemraj murder case. Special DG (Law and Order) Brij Lal said Utsav Sharma had hidden a sharp-edged weapon in a bag. On seeing the dentist approaching the court room, he attacked him. The police denied that Utsav was a psychiatric patient.

Utsav Sharma was subsequently overpowered by the police personnel and onlookers present on the court premises. He was arrested and a case under Section 307 of IPC was registered at the Kavinagar police station

Interrogation of the youth revealed that he had arrived in Delhi three days back for seeing the Indian Art Summit in Pragati Maidan.

Reports from Varanasi quoting Utsav Sharma's father said his son was suffering from depression and hence should not be treated as a criminal.
