Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday visited Aam Aadmi Party leader Soni Sori at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, where she was admitted after she was attacked with an acid-like substance in Dantewada district, Chhattisgarh, on Saturday.
The tribal rights activist is “stable and there is no threat to her life,” noted a health bulletin released by the hospital.

Ms. Soni was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night and according to the doctors “the patient who came here with chemical burns on her face was immediately admitted to the ICU.”
“She has been evaluated by the ophthalmologist and her eye appears to be normal, though she has orbital and conjunctival oedema. Her condition is stable.”
AAP leaders said Ms. Sori was not able to speak properly or open her eyes.
“Fortunately she has not lost sight,” said Dilip Pandey, AAP’s Delhi unit head. “Her skin is burnt and she is in great pain. We are told she will be in hospital for two or three weeks.” AAP leaders said they want the Chhattisgarh police to arrest the perpetrators.
Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal visited Ms. Sori at the hospital and said the incident underlined the need for banning retail sale of acid and harsher punishment for people who commit such crimes. “Despite Supreme Court order, there is no compliance. How did anyone get hold of such a substance,” wondered Ms. Maliwal.
