Rs. 7.56 cr paid among air crash victims’ kin: Air India

Air India on Friday said it has so far disbursed as interim relief Rs. 7.56 crore among 84 families of the deceased as well as the injured in the Managlore plane crash, which claimed 158 lives.

“As on date, we have disbursed Rs. 7.56 crore to the survivors and families of the victims of Air India Express IX-812 crash in Mangalore on May 22,” an Air India spokesperson said here.

The airline had announced an interim compensation of Rs. 10 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 5 lakh for the families of those below 12 years.

Air India had announced Rs. 2 lakh as interim compensation for the injured.

“On May 28 and 29, Air India disbursed interim relief of Rs. 4.82 crore among 54 families including those of the 8 survivors. Yesterday, an ex gratia of Rs. 1.82 crore was handed over to 20 families, including a survivor,” the spokesperson said.

The airline on Friday disbursed Rs. 92 lakh to 10 families including a survivor, taking the total relief amount to Rs. 7.56 crore, he said.
