The stolen pilot vehicle of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan was found abandoned in Rangpura area of the city, police sources said on Tuesday.

The vehicle has been seized by police, they said.

The SUV, which had a radio tag allowing its entry into Parliament, was stolen from R K Puram Sector-V residence of driver Niranjan Mohanty on Monday by an unidentified man who drove away with it despite the former giving a chase for some distance.

The vehicle had four to five stickers giving it access to prominent places.

Sources in Mr. Khan’s office had said that the SUV was being used as a pilot vehicle of the Deputy Chairman’s vehicle cordon.

The driver has taken the Bolero to his residence on Sunday evening as he was relieved from duty very late.
