In a bid to net elusive top Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda, Orissa police on Sunday put up posters displaying his photographs in several places of three districts seeking information from people about him.
“Posters carrying Panda’s photographs have been pasted in several areas in districts like Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal,” Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Prakash Mishra said.
Securing information about him and get wind of his movements remained the primary objective behind circulating the photos of Panda, considered as the chief of the banned CPI (Maoist) in Orissa facing at least 20 criminal cases, he said.

Identity of those providing any information about Panda would be kept secret and if the inputs in any way helped in apprehending the rebel leader the concerned person would be rewarded, a senior police officer said.
Panda, alias Sunil alias Sarat, was believed to have played a key role in the Nayagarh attack in 2008 when heavily armed Maoists attacked police establishments and looted armoury at the district headquarter town, barely 100 km from here.
The move of pasting posters came over a month after the top ranking Maoist leader’s wife Subhashree alias Milli was arrested by the police from here on various charges.

Posters with photo of another top Maoist Azad, believed to be involved in killing of VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati, also came up in several areas.
