Weeks after its defeat in West Bengal, the Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) said here in a statement that the seat adjustment with the Congress there was not in consonance with the line of the Central Committee.

“With regard to the electoral tactics pursued by the CPI(M) in various states, the electoral tactics evolved in West Bengal was not in consonance with the Central Committee decision based on the political-tactical line of the Party which states that there shall be no alliance or understanding with the Congress party,” the statement, issued after the two-day meet of the Polit Bureau, said.

Just after the election results, the party had said in a press release that it would probe the tactical line adopted by the Bengal committee.
