Navy foils attack on tanker

The Navy, on Monday, announced that it had foiled an attempt by pirates who attacked a tanker flying a Norwegian flag during patrolling off the Gulf of Aden.

Responding to the distress call by “Nordic Spirit” belonging to Nordic American tanker company, the Indian Naval warship in the region launched a helicopter to prevent the pirates who fired upon the tanker, a Defence Ministry release said..

The Indian warship also arrived in the area of the tanker and the incident took place in the afternoon. No casualties were reported.
