The Goa Children’s Court on Wednesday acquitted Julio Lobo, one of the accused in the British teenager Scarlett Keeling’s suspected murder case, on account of lack of evidence.

The British minor, whose half-nude body was found abandoned on the Anjuna beach of north Goa on February 16, 2008, was staying with Julio while her mother was away with her friend and other children in Gokak in Karnataka for a holiday.

The accused is a shack-owner from Sivolim in north Goa’s coastal belt.

After the mother of the deceased minor questioned the credibility of the Goa police investigating the suspicious death of her daughter, the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation which has recently filed the charge-sheet in the Court.
