Kumbh Mela: third ‘shahi snaan’ today at Trimbakeshwar

“Thousands of seers, mahants and sadhus belonging to 10 Akhadas will take the holy dip in ‘Kushavartha Teerth’ [holy pond] from 4.15 A.M. to 12.00 P.M. on Friday,” a Nashik district administration official said.

The third and final shahi snaan (royal bath) during the ongoing Kumbh Mela will take place tomorrow at Trimbakeshwar near here.

“Thousands of seers, mahants and sadhus belonging to 10 Akhadas will take the holy dip in ‘Kushavartha Teerth’ [holy pond] from 4.15 A.M. to 12.00 P.M.,” a district administration official said.

In the morning, a royal procession will be taken out by the seers and Mahants. Later in the day, thousands of devotees will be allowed to take the holy dip till late night.

Tight security

Meanwhile, security has been stepped up with over 7,000 police personnel deployed in the town.

Well-equipped control rooms have been set up to keep a watch on all proceedings, District Superintendent of Police Sanjay Mohite has said.

“The Nashik division of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation [MSRTC] will be running 700 special buses from Nashik to Trimbakeshwar for the convenience of devotees,” MSRTC Divisional Controller Yamini Joshi said.

On September 18, hundreds of devotees had taken the holy dip in river Godavari on the occasion of third ‘shahi snaan’ at Nashik.
