Kingpin in Eamcet paper leak held

Investigators are yet to nab the person who managed to bring out the question paper from a press in Delhi where it was printed.

Rajagopal Reddy, considered the key man behind the leaking of medical post-graduate entrance test papers (Eamcet paper-II) three years ago, was on Wednesday picked up by the Telangana Crime Investigation Department officials along with a person, Thirumal. Reddy was the eighth accused in the case.

Investigators are yet to nab the person who managed to bring out the question paper from a press in Delhi where it was printed. Reddy, who was into the business of arranging seats in private medical colleges under different categories like management quota, had developed a network of agents. Through Thirumal, he approached parents whose children were aspiring to secure admission in medical colleges.

Sources in the CID maintained that the confessions made so far by some of the suspects suggested that nearly Rs. 70 crore was involved in the paper leak racket. Depending on the range of ranks assured, Reddy fixed amounts varying from Rs. 40 lakh to Rs. 70 lakh for each candidate.

Five days before the exam, 30 students were taken to Mumbai and accommodated in private guest houses there.

They were tutored on the leaked questions and answers, and brought back to Hyderabad. Some students reportedly admitted that all questions that appeared in the test matched with those they that were given to them earlier by Reddy.
