A preliminary probe by the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) into Friday's fire emergency incident on a Jet Airways flight pointed to “serious procedural lapses in dealing with the emergency and evacuation situation,” an official statement said on Saturday.
The pilot and crew members have been suspended.
“The Pilot in Command (PIC), First officer, four cabin crew members and four ACMs [Additional Crew Members] have been suspended till further orders. It has been treated as serious incident and will be investigated under rule 77C [investigation] of Aircraft Rules 1937 by a team comprising Director of Air safety in Mumbai, Flight Operations Inspector and Cabin Safety in-charge of the DGCA,” the note said.

Fourteen passengers on Jet Airways flight 9W2302, scheduled to fly to Chennai from here, were injured during evacuation after a fire alert.
However, “no fire or smoke was observed in the engine area” after an inspection, carried out at under the DGCA supervision.

“Both the engines were checked and borescope inspection was carried out. No abnormality was observed in the engines and its systems. The CVR [cockpit voice recorder] and DFDR [digital flight data recorder] were removed,” the statement said.
