The Prime Minister’s Office has assured filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt that the Home Ministry will inquire into the “leak” of information about his son having known David Headley, arrested by the FBI in the U.S. for plotting terror attacks in India.
Mr. Bhatt wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on November 15, expressing a sense of “great betrayal” over the manner in which his son was handled by investigators, though he shared with them information he had about Headley.
“The Home Minister [P. Chidambaram] has been asked to look into the matter,” Jaideep Sarkar, private secretary to the Prime Minister, said in a written communication to Mr. Bhatt.

Speaking to PTI here on Monday, Mr. Bhatt said his son had done a duty every citizen should do, but expressed displeasure at some reports having projected him in a bad light. “The result is that my movie was taken off from cinema halls in Gujarat. This caused me a heavy financial loss. But still this does not prevent me from contributing to India’s fight against terror.”
