The need for a better coordination and sharing of intelligence inputs among the North Eastern states was stressed at a high level meeting of officials convened by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
The day-long closed-door meeting, chaired by MHA’s Joint Secretary (North-East) Navin Verma, reviewed the prevailing security scenario of the region and discussed the modalities of setting up a joint intelligence sharing mechanism, official sources said.
The meeting also discussed the implementation of various schemes related to the modernisation of the state police forces, rehabilitation of surrendered militants, filling up of vacancies and sanction of additional posts in the state police.

The meeting was held at the Assam police headquarters and attended by Home Secretaries and Police Chiefs of the North Eastern states.
The Assam Director General of Police, Sankar Barua, SIB’s Joint Director Anand Kumar, Home Commissioner Jishnu Barua and Principal Secretary (Home) Subhas Das also spoke on the occasion.
