Heat wave conditions continues to prevail over many parts of Uttar Pradesh, Telengana, interior Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and few places over Rajasthan, Gujarat and interior Orissa. As per the IMD's observations recorded during the last 24 hours, severe heat wave to heat wave conditions are prevailing over many parts of Bihar.
The highest maximum temperature of 47.3°C was recorded at Wardha (Maharashtra).
Widespread rain/thundershowers are expected to occur over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh and scattered over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

While scattered rain/thundershowers would occur over Jammu & Kashmir,Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Orissa during next 48 hours, Himachal, Uttarakhand and Bihar will witness the same in the next 24 hours.
Isolated duststorm/thunderstorms may occur over Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during next 48 hours.
Southern States and Union Territories including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala parts of Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep are likely to witness scattered rainfall before Monday, May 17, 2010.

Scattered rain/thundershowers would occur over Kerala, coastal and south interior Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and isolated over Andhra Pradesh, North Interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Tamilnadu. Rainfall activity may increase over Andaman & Nicobar Islands after 24 hours.
No significant change in maximum temperatures are expected over plains of northwest, central and east India.
Heavy to very heavy rain/thundershowers would occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during next 48 hours, IMD has predicted.
