HRD Ministry seeks report on ragging

The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has sought a detailed report from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on the Scindia School ragging incident, even as the a show-cause notice is being issued to the school by the Board.

According to officials in the Ministry, the CBSE on August 24 sent a team to investigate the case of ragging, which will be followed up with a show-cause notice to the school. “It is a case of ragging, so a show-cause notice under the CBSE affiliation byelaws will be issued to the State. As on date, we cannot comment on whether it is a case of suicide,” said an official.

A 14-year-old student, son of Bihar Cooperative Minister, was found in a semi-conscious state in his hostel room at the residential school on August 20. He is being treated in Apollo Hospital here.
