The government on Thursday told the Rajya Sabha that it was ascertaining full facts on the New Maharashtra Sadan incident and would make a statement in the House on Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was present at the time, watched as the opposition CPI (M), Congress and Samajwadi Party members persisted with their demand for a statement from the government. Some members said they should be allowed clarifications on the government’s statement (when it comes).

“I agree this is a serious and a sensitive matter,” Union Parliamentary Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said, adding the government was ascertaining full facts.
“The matter concerns some members of Parliament and has happened on the premises of a particular State government. So, we have to find out full details and only then can we respond,” he said.
When a Congress member remarked that nobody was above the law, Mr. Naidu pointed out to the member that he was sitting and talking. “Is it as per rules and law?”
In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan told Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge that she would look into the demand raised by Opposition members in the letter given to her on Wednesday. T
he leaders had sought an inquiry into the incident involving Shiv Sena MPs and demanded action against those found guilty.
