Four Una Dalit victims admitted to Ahmedabad hospital for further treatment

Four Dalit victims who were beaten up by a cow vigilante group near Gujarat's Una town on July 11, 2016 have been brought to Ahmedabad after deterioration of their health.

They were admitted to the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital’s trauma centre on Wednesday and are under treatment. They were discharged from the government hospital in Rajkot where they were under treatment after they were brutally flogged by the cow vigilante group members with iron rods and steel pipes, in Mota Samadhiyala village near Una town in Saurashtra.

According to sources in the hospital, two of the four persons are serious as they have suffered huge psychological trauma, besides physical beating. Doctors at the hospital said that the victims will also be referred to psychiatrists for opinion.

The trauma centre at the hospital has turned into a fortress with heavy police deployment as political leaders are making a bee-line to visit the victims.

Late Wednesday night, senior Congress leader Shankarsinh Waghela called on the victims at the hospital. A delegation from the AAP is expected to visit them at the hospital by Thursday evening.
