Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre here which has undergone extensive renovation and redevelopment by Reliance Foundation.
Speaking at a gathering of top industrialists, film stars, politicians and members of the Ambani family, Mr Modi said just as this 90-year-old hospital had undergone renewal and got a new life today, India too, has to undergo a renewal.
Expressing concern over India’s adverse health indicators such as high infant and maternal mortality, Mr.Modi stressed the need for improving primary healthcare facilities and developing holistic health care. He said the society and government should work together to provide quality health care to the poorest of poor at affordable prices.

Referring to the government’s Digital India programme, he said one of the primary aims was to ensure advanced healthcare in remote areas through telemedicine, and access to best education for the poor.
Mr. Modi called for a renewed thrust on preventive healthcare as treatment is expensive, while prevention is economical. Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani said the hospital will provide the highest standards of healthcare to everyone at affordable cost. She suggested to the PM that as with his ‘Make In India’ campaign, he could consider giving a call of ‘Serve in India.’
