Senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu has described the manner in which the Centre initiated the process of carving out a separate Telangana State as “immature and irresponsible.”
Speaking to journalists here on Saturday, Mr. Naidu said the Congress had not consulted its own MLAs and MPs, or “even the Chief Minister of the State” before arriving at the decision. The Centre had “messed up a delicate issue” and had made an announcement without a credible and clear road map.
Mr. Naidu questioned why the decision was announced at midnight, at a time when Parliament was in session.

‘Political vendetta’
On the Liberhan Commission report, he said the entire exercise smacked of “political vendetta.” He said it would boomerang on the Congress if the Centre decided to revisit the charge sheet based on the findings of the report. “The Congress will regret it.”
Mr. Naidu dismissed the exercise which took 17 years to complete at a cost of Rs. 8 crore, as worthy of being “thrown into the Bay of Bengal.” Describing it as a “commissioned report,” he claimed that it had erred on many facts, including the date on which the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was formed. He sought to know how the report had decided that there was a conspiracy behind the Babri Masjid demolition, when earlier intelligence reports and the CBI charge sheet had said that there was no conspiracy.
