Cargo plane makes emergency landing

A Federal Express aircraft made an emergency landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here on Friday after a warning of fire in the cargo hold soon after the flight took off.

Sources in the Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (MIAL) said the aircraft was subjected to a thorough inspection, but no fire was found.

On information, full emergency was declared for the aircraft, FX 5034, which took off with two crew members, at 12.13 p.m., on a trip to Paris through Dubai. “The aircraft landed safely at 1.10 p.m. on runway 9, and [was] parked on [the] isolation bay,” a statement issued by the MIAL said. The emergency was withdrawn at 1.51 p.m.
