CPI(M) on Friday said it is against any third party intervention in resolving issues between India and Pakistan, making it clear that there was “neither scope nor requirement” for China or US to chip in.
Senior party leader Sitaram Yechury’s remarks in this regard came after the controversial Sino-US joint statement in which both the countries voiced support for the improvement in Indo-Pak ties and their readiness to promote peace and stability in the region.
“We are very clear as far as Indo-Pak issues are concerned, it is a bilateral matter. There is neither scope nor requirement of a third party intervention whether that of US or China in this regard,” Mr. Yechury told reporters here.

He said the Indian government has made it clear that it will resolve the issue ourselves. “A third party intervention is not acceptable,” Mr. Yechury added.
India had said that “a third country role cannot be envisaged nor is it necessary.”
