The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday held the Maoists, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Congress as responsible for the killing of over 280 Left supporters in West Bengal in the past year.

“After the general elections last year more than 280 comrades of Left parties and particularly CPI(M) have been killed in the attacks conducted by Maoists, the TMC and the Congress. Terror unleashed by the TMC and the Maoists is aided by the Congress through out the State,” CPI(M) West Bengal State secretariat member Sridip Bhattacharyya alleged here.

Addressing a solidarity meeting “Against Brutal Attacks of Trinamool Congress and Maoists on Left front Government in West Bengal” organised by the CPI(M)’s Andhra Pradesh Committee here, Mr. Bhattacharyya accused the TMC and the Maoists of working together with an aim to oust the Left front government in West Bengal.

In the last one year attacks against the supporters of Left parties particularly the CPI(M) has intensified and become tremendous, the CPI(M) leader said alleging, “(even after) knowing everything, the Central government is keeping mum and even supporting the TMC.”

The Maoists and the TMC are hatching conspiracies and carrying out attacks and brutal killings of women, labourers, teachers, youths and even students mainly in the three south-west districts of Paschim Medinipur, Bankura and Purulia, he said.
