The Gujarat high court on Friday granted a two-day custodial remand of the former Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Amit Shah, to the Central Bureau of Investigation for further questioning in the Sohrabuddin – Kausarbi murder case.

A single judge bench of Justice Akil Kureshi reversed the order of the special CBI court, which had earlier rejected the remand plea on grounds that once a charge-sheet was filed, the accused could be questioned only in the judicial custody and could not be granted remand. Mr. Shah, who was placed under arrest when he presented himself before the CBI on July 25, is currently lodged in the Sabarmati central jail. He will be questioned by the CBI on Saturday and Sunday.
