CBI files three more cases in coal block allocation scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered three cases against a Chhattisgarh-based company, its directors and members of the 35 th Screening Committee for alleged irregularities in the allocation of three coal blocks.

The agency has accused SKS Ispat and Power Limited and others, including public servants, of criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal misconduct. “While applying for the coal blocks, the company misrepresented its net-worth and also made false claims regarding its preparedness for the proposed projects,” said a CBI official.

The cases pertained to the allocation of the Fatehpur, Vijay Central and the Rawanwara coal blocks. After registering the cases, the agency conducted searches in Delhi, Mumbai, Raigarh and Raipur.
