Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas claimed on Saturday that a newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP had approached him recently.
Mr. Vishwas told the media that on August 19 he had been approached by a “friend” from the BJP, who was a newly elected party MP from Delhi. “One MP friend came to me at and said I was Chief Minister material,” the AAP leader said.
The poet-turned-politician, who did not name the MP, said the latter also told him that he could join the BJP along with some other MLAs and work for the nation’s progress.

“I told him that nation-building is for the BJP to do as it was the government at the Centre. Mr. Modi is not the Prime Minister of the BJP alone but of the 125 crore population [of the country]; We will praise good work, criticise a bad one and even hit the streets if the need arises.”
As for the offer, he said, there was no one at top in the BJP who was not known to him. “There are many important people there [BJP] — if there had been some truth in the offer, I would have asked him [MP]. It is not an issue for me because the Aam Aadmi Party is a movement and I believe in it,” he said.
Mr. Vishwas said while he thanked the MP, he also made it clear that neither did he believe in the offer nor was it a priority for him.
