Describing the Union Budget for 2010-11 as “inflationary”, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday said there was no mention of the special package for the state which the UPA government had earlier promised it.

“It is a budget that will further raise inflation. Gross injustice has been done to Bihar by not giving any special package to flood victims of Kosi region on the pattern of tsunami and Aila victims as demanded by the State.”

“This budget does not carry any promise of efforts to sort out regional imbalances and the special category status to Bihar..,” Kumar said.

The chief minister alleged that the Centre had “overlooked” the State’s request for special package in the budget.

Even the 13th Finance Commission recommendation for grants to Bihar is inadequate as it would not meet the State’s financial requirements, he added.
