Eleven sophisticated weapons including four AK-56 Rifles, one German made HK 33 Assault Rifle, one US made M-16 Rifle, four 9mm Pistols, four hand grenades, and 300 rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession.

Describing it as a major success in counter-insurgency operation against the NDFB (Songbijit), Inspector General of Police ( BTAD) L. R. Bisnoi, who led the operation, told The Hindu that the arrested militants included Mithinga, a self styled second-in-command of the ‘Kokrajhar Platoon’ of the NDFB (Songbijit) and Khurai a hardcore cadre, who were “directly involved” in the terror attack on Pakhriguri village under Serfanguri police station of the district on December 23 in which five Adivasi villagers were killed and four were injured.

The IGP said that altogether 24 NDFB (Songbijit) militants had been arrested so far in BTAD areas ever since the operations were intensified following December 23 terror attacks.
