Twenty-seven registered unrecognised political parties have been allotted symbols ranging from chappals, tea filter and chapatti roller to gas stoves and phone charger, for the coming Lok Sabha polls.
The applications of the 27 parties for concession in the allotment of a common symbol to their candidates in the general elections had been accepted by the Commission, says an EC order.
Of these, 12 parties propose to field their candidates in Uttar Pradesh. Rashtriya Janshanti Party, which wants to contest all the 80 seats in the State, has been allotted the Stool as its election symbol.

Hamari Apni Party, which will not have any candidate in Uttar Pradesh, has been given different symbols, including Bat, Pressure Cooker, Ring and Cup & Saucer, in various States.
Some of these parties will be fighting the Lok Sabha elections in only one State. Swabhimani Paksha has been allotted Bat as the symbol for six parliamentary constituencies in Maharashtra. Kruppa Party has got Chappals as its symbol for 21 constituencies in Odisha; All-India Pasumpon Munnetra Kazhagam and All-India Makkal Nalvalvu Katchi in Tamil Nadu get Hat and Bottle respectively; Rashtriya Janvikas Party and Apna Adhikar Party in Bihar have been given Flute and Brush respectively.
In Gujarat, Vyavastha Parivartan Party has been allotted the Phone Charger as the symbol for 24 constituencies.

Hindustan Hamara Party alone gets a common symbol, Bread, for all the 543 parliamentary constituencies it is fielding candidates in.
“However, the said symbol shall be available for allotment as free symbol to other candidates in the constituencies where the aforesaid party does not actually set up its candidates. In the event of the above said party failing to meet the requirement of the minimum number of candidates…then the said common symbol shall not be available to its candidates,” the order says.
