The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested two persons for plotting to set the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) office here on fire, ATS chief K.P. Raghuvanshi told journalists on Sunday.
Abdul Latif Shaikh, resident of Bandra (29) and Riyaz Ali (23), resident of Dahisar, were arrested on information given by Central agencies.
Mr. Raghuvanshi said Adbul and Riyaz had identified three targets in the city — the Thakkar Mall in Borivili (West), the ONGC office and the Mangaldas Market, located at the famous Crawford Market. The two, arrested in Matunga on Saturday at 8.30 p.m., were produced in court on Sunday and remanded to police custody till March 18.

The ATS chief said both were in touch with a person from Pakistan, whom they referred to as “uncle.” They had received instructions from Pakistan to get their passports readied.
Mr. Raghuvanshi said the ATS was probing their links with terror outfits in Pakistan.
